Cars really should not honk at pedestrians, especially in areas when pedestrians have right of way. It is understandable that honks can serve as warnings to pedestrians, but honks are made such that other drivers can hear them and to nearby pedestrian, it is extremely loud and invasive. This worsens the unbalanced relationship that already exists between pedestrians and the vehicles that are able to cause them grievous damage without a single tear to itself. Maybe they could honk softer or something.
